Jama Masjid in Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Jama Masjid or Jumma Mosque is one of the exquisite Mosques located in the Ahmedabad city. The Mosque is lying in the old walled city and situated outside Bhadra Fort area. Jama Masjid was built in 1424 during the region of Ahmed Shah, the Mosque is designed as per the desires of Emperor Sultan Ahmed Shah. The Mosque is built with yellow sandstone on large courtyard of 75 meter long and 66 meter wide.

The Mosque is situated to the south of the Maidan-i Shah at the door with three arches, Teen Darwaza. To the west of the mosque are the tombs of Ahmed Shah I and the queens, his son and his grandson and other wives of the Kings. The courtyard is lined with the three columns and the fourth side is Prayer hall, it is rectangular and covered by four domes. The Mosque is built in Indo-Saracenic architecture and includes many intricate elements which attracts the tourists.
