Bharatpur is a city and recently created Municipal Corporation in State of Rajasthan in India, located in Braj region and 180 km away from the New Delhi City and 178 km away from Rajasthan’s Capital. It is also known as Lohagarh or Eastern getaway to Rajasthan. It is famous for Keoladeo National Park an enchanting Bird Reserve and hence large number of National and International tourist visits the Park. Around 364 species are recorded in the park, the name Keoladeo is derived from the name of an ancient Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva in the sanctuary's central zone.
The History of Bharatpur says when in 5th century the Matsya kingdom flourished here and they were allies of The Pandavas in the Mahabharat war. It is also believed that the name is inspired to Bharat, younger brother of Lord Ram. In early 18th century Maharajas Suraj Mal captured the Fort of Bharatpur by vanquishing Khemkaran, the rival Chieftain and laid the foundation for Bharatpur.
