Ajanta Caves are located in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra State of India. Ajanta Caves are around 29 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments which are dated in 2nd century BCE to about 480 or 650 CE. Ajanta caves includes wonderful paintings and splendid rock cut sculptures which are considered amongst finest surviving examples of ancient Indian art, especially expressive paintings that depicts emotion through gesture and pose, depicting the past lives and rebirths of the Buddha, pictorial tales from Aryasura's Jatakamala.

The caves were built in two phases, the first group starting around the 2nd century BC, while the second group of caves built around 400–650 CE. Ajanta Caves comprises ancient monasteries and worship halls of different Buddhist traditions carved into a 250 feet wall of rock. Cave one includes grandiose Murals and finest carvings of Lord Buddha. Cave Second consists of glorious paintings, Cave four comprises of sanctum, Verandah and hall.
