Jag Mandir in Udaipur, Rajasthan

Jagmandir Palace is located on magnificent Pichola Lake of Udaipur in Rajasthan. The beautiful island is constructed with three Maharanas of Mewar Kingdom. Jagmandir Island is built in 17th century started by Maharana Karan Singh II and completed by Jagat Singh (named after him as honour).

Jagmandir was built by Maharana Karan to give hiding place for prince khurram (known as Shah Jahan) who revolted against his Father and Maharana Karan helped him as Prince Khurram was born to a Rajput mother. Jagmandir is grandeur ambience with yellow stone and marble architecture, the palace has life-size Elephants of marble.

Gul Mahal of Jagmandir is Place where Prince Khurram lived with his family, Karan Singh give the taste of Islamic culture in architecture of Gul Mahal to serve religious purpose of Khurram with Mosques and courtyards. Other attractions are Bara Patharon ka Mahal, Kunwar Pada ka Mahal and the Zenana Mahal.

Jagmandir has glorious gardens with flowers and trees. Jagmandir was a summer retreat for Royal family members. The surprising fact about Jagmandir is that Shah Jahan got some inspiration from Jagmandir while constructing Taj Mahal (one wonder amongst seven wonders of world).
