Marina beach is the natural Beach in the Chennai city of Tamil Nadu along the Bay of Bengal. The beach starts from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south with a distance of 6.45 km, making it the longest natural urban beach in the country and one of the world's longest beaches ranking with 1. It is the most visited beach during summer months and attracts many tourists throughout the year. Beach is 300 m wide and the width at the widest stretch is 437 m. Bathing and swimming at the Marina Beach are legally prohibited because it can be dangerous as the undercurrent is quite strong.
Watching the sunset and sunrise from the beach is an enthralling experience. Various food stalls are situated near the beach that offers murukku, sundal, ice-cream and other South-Indian snacks. An aquarium is located near the beach that showcases some of the best freshwater and tropical sea fish. The beach also houses the memorials, dedicated to C. N. Annadurai and M. G. Ramachandran, both former Chief Ministers of the state. There are two swimming pools along the stretch—the Marina swimming pool and the Anna swimming pool. The Marina beach was famed for its pristine beauty, jolly ambiance, and rich ecosystems as it is home to many Flora and Fauna Species.
