Mumbai - The Economic Capital of India

Mumbai is capital of Maharashtra State of India. It lies on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbor. It is the most populous city in India and the ninth most populous agglomeration in the world. Mumbai city is financial, commercial and entertainment capital of India. Mumbai city houses many important financial institutions. It also houses television and film industries. Mumbai is built on what was once an archipelago of seven islands, Bombay Island, Parel, Mazagaon, Mahim, Colaba, Worli, and Old Woman's Island. It is not exactly known when these islands were first inhabited.
The architecture of the city is a blend of Gothic Revival, Indo-Saracenic, Art Deco, and other contemporary styles. Mumbai's culture is a blend of traditional festivals, food, music, and theatres. Beaches are a major tourist attraction in the city. The major beaches in Mumbai are Girgaum Chowpatt, Juhu Beach, Dadar Chowpatty, Gorai Beach, Marve Beach, Versova Beach, Madh Beach, Aksa Beach, and Manori Beach. Essel World is a theme park and amusement centre situated close to Gorai Beach, and includes Asia's largest theme water park, Water Kingdom. Mumbai city has several palatial historic monuments, National Parks, Pilgrimage sites and other notable attractions.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the main aviation hub in the city and the second busiest airport in India in terms of passenger traffic. Mumbai houses Suburban Railway station, mono rails and metro rails facility. Mumbai city is highly-connected via Road Transport.
