Abhaneri is the village in the Dausa district near Jaipur of Rajasthan State of India. Abhaneri is very well-known for the Chand Baori step well and Harshat Mata Temple. Tourists from far distinct places visit Abhaneri to explore its historical beauty. Abhaneri is well-known for its Baori which was the invention made by the natives to harvest rain water. Amongst all the stepwells Chand Baori is the India’s deepest and largest stepwells and so retains major attraction. In earlier times stepwells was used as a cool place of retreat and as a water reservoir. The Baori is beautifully carven with intricate architecture and it consists of three flight, flight of stairs and the palace are arranged in a square pattern with the well lying at the bottom. The flight of steps are thirteen storeys deep and the palace was a place for the royals to stay during hot summers days. There is a large courtyard all around the Baori.

Another attraction of Abhaneri is Harshat Mata Temple located close to Chand Baori. In earlier days a ritual was performed by worshippers that they wash hands and feet at the Chand Baori before visiting the Harshat Mata Temple. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Harshat Mata. Harshat Mata is considered to be the Goddess of Joy and happiness. Abhaneri is situated 95 km away from the capital of Rajasthan (Jaipur) on the Jaipur-Agra Road and can be easily accessible throught Jaipur or Agra city.
