Amritsar is home to the well-known Harmandir Sahib Golden Temple, the spiritual and cultural centre for the Sikh religion. This important Sikh site attracts more than thousands of visitors. Amritsar is also famous for Jallianwala Bagh massacre, where the killing of hundreds of Indian civilians on the orders of a senior British military officer, Reginald Edward Harry Dyer.
