India Gate in New Delhi

India Gate is memorial located in New Delhi and earlier called as All India War Memorial. India Gate is a memorial to 82,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in the period 1914–21 in the First World War, in France, Flanders, Mesopotamia, Persia, East Africa, Gallipoli and elsewhere East, and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. 13,300 servicemen's names, including some soldiers and officers from the United Kingdom, are inscribed on the gate. India Gate is gracefully carved with classic architecture and it was designed by Edwin Lutyens.

In 1971 Amar Jawan Jyoti was constructed consisting of Black marble plinth with reversed self-loading rifle along with war helmet and bound with permanent light. It has served as India’s Tomb of Unknown soldiers who died for their country.
