Mattupetty Dam is located near Munnar in Idukki district of Indian State of Kerala. It is a storage Concrete Gravity Dam constructed in Mountains of Kerala to restore water to produce Hydroelectricity. It is one of the major sources of power like other Dams and generating huge revenue to the state.

The large amount of perennially available water allows wild animals and birds to flourish. However salinity caused by irrigation and water-logging are of concern to environmentalists. The reservoir is also known to be one of the visiting grounds of elephants in the region.
