Sikandra Tomb in Agra, Uttar Pradesh

Akbar’s Tomb is the tomb of the Mughal emperor Akbar located in Sikandra in outskirts of Agra in Uttar Pradesh. It is famous Mughal architecture monument started with Akbar himself, he planned the Tomb and select the site and after the death of Akbar, the tomb of Akbar was built by his son prince Salim and he completed whole construction in 1605-1613. Building is mainly consist of deep red sandstone and features with white marble.

The south gate is the largest, with four white marble Chhatri-topped minarets which are similar to those of the Taj Mahal. The tomb itself is surrounded by a walled enclosure 105 m square and tomb building is a four-tiered pyramid surrounding with marble pavilion containing the false tomb. The true tomb is in other mausoleums situated in the basement.
