Ujjain is one of the prominent cities of Madhya Pradesh considered as one of the holiest cities in India and a popular pilgrimage center of attraction. Ujjain is house of one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. Ujjain Simhastha is a mass Hindu pilgrimage, and one of the fairs recognised as Kumbh Melas. During the Simhastha, thousands of Hindus gather to bathe in a sacred river. At Ujjain, it is held once every 12 years, on the banks of Kshipra River.
