Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan in 1459 and named after him. Jodhpur is known as Sun City for the bright and sunny weather throughout year. Jodhpur of Rajasthan in India was earlier known as Marwar and capital of Kingdom. It is second largest city of the state which is set in the stark landscape of Thar Desert.
Jodhpur popularly also called as Blue City because of Blue color painted many of the houses in the old city. Jodhpur is divided into two sections old city and new city. The old City is enclosed in the large wall which surrounds the old city, it has eight gates leading out of it. The new city is developed outside the large walls.
