Albert Hall in Jaipur, Rajasthan

The foundation of stone of Albert Hall was laid in 1876 in Jaipur City. It is the oldest museum of the state and functions as the State museum of Rajasthan and also called as Government Central Museum. Albert Hall was named after King Albert Edward II who visited City as the Prince of Wales when the foundation stone was laid.

The building was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacobin Indo-Saracenic architecture. Initially Ram Singh wanted this building to open as Town Hall but his successor decided it as a Museum for the art of Jaipur and opened as public Museum in 1887. The Museum exhibit collections of rich artifacts as Paintings, stone, ivory, crystal work, metal sculptures, etc.
