Jai Vilas Palace or Jai Vilas Mahal is an old Palace of Gwalior city, built by Jayajirao Scindia in 1874. Jayajirao Scindia was the Maharaja of Gwalior and the Palace is still the residence of his descendants. The elegant palace was designed by Sir Michael Filose in European architecture. Jai Vilas palace is spread in vast landscape of 1,240,771 sq. ft area.

A combination of architectural style is depicted by the Palace as the first storey has Tuscan architecture, the second one has Italian-Doric and the third one Corinthian. The Palace is particularly well-known for its massive Durbar Hall, which is 100 ft long, 50 ft wide and 41 ft in height. Durbar hall is phenomenally decorated with gilt and gold furnishing, decked with large carpet and huge Chandeliers.

Bizarre items fill the rooms: cut-glass furniture, stuffed tigers and a ladies-only swimming pool with its own boat. The cavernous dining room displays the piece de resistance, a model railway with a silver train that carried after-dinner brandy and cigars around the table.
